Abbreviation[edit]

I believe this is an abbreviated form of invasive exotic species. This should be noted in the entry. 24.29.228.33 06:05, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • The definition is improved, but I don't think it addresses the anon's concern. I frankly think it is fine, in a previous life I used to work in the park service and dealt with invasive exotics all the time (that it may once have been an abbreviation for the term including "species" is now history). bd2412 T 11:49, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Also, I hate to tediously maintain the species-member (like language-people-member) distinctions. I could use good examples of how the matter can be correctly finessed in entries. DCDuring TALK 12:37, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
For this definition, I don't think it matters. We could say "one or more representatives of a species", but in practice exotics are invasive because bringing in one or two quickly results in the species overrunning the place (think weeds and rabbits). Cheers! bd2412 T 15:59, 20 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
