Rfv-sense: The key issue or problem, which if (re)solved, would make the current task easy to complete. The issue around which the whole problem revolves. Also: Literal sense seems SoP: The log which, if removed, would free up the whole logjam. DCDuring TALK 18:06, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Cited. TBC's second New York Times cite is behind a paywall, but fortunately, the journal that it's quoting from is on JSTOR, which I happen to have access to at the moment, and the CFI only require one cite from a scholarly journal. (This actually covers both senses, because the same cite uses the literal sense. Or maybe it only mentions the literal sense, but for scholarly journals we only require "appearance", not necessarily "usage", so it doesn't matter.) —Ruakh_TALK 03:17, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
