laske[edit]

Discussion moved from User talk:Sgconlaw.

@Sgconlaw Have been rather busy, so had not got round to responding. The first time you reverted my edits on laske, it was mildly annoying, since just before that another administrator had taken the trouble to adjust or update the parameters contained therein; but the last time you reverted was totally logical and you set your reason clearly: I would not have returned my edits had I probed more deeply to find that lask with that meaning was already there; so my due apologies. I thought that since laske was the only spelling I had seen in Ogilvie's dictionary that this was the correct one and that it could be returned to the English vocabulary as an euphemism. Kind Regards. Andrew H. Gray 08:13, 10 September 2021 (UTC) Andrew

@Werdna Yrneh Yarg: no problem! Yes, we already had a full entry at lask, so it made sense to regard laske as a variant spelling. — SGconlaw (talk) 08:57, 10 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Sgconlaw: Thank you; and the etymology under lask is considerably better than mine, mainly due to not having access to lasquer. Andrew H. Gray 09:59, 25 September 2021 (UTC) Andrew

Rfv-sense: Obsolete veterinary term, 'to have diarrhoea'. DTLHS (talk) 16:23, 4 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Resolved: I reverted the change, having already cleaned up the entry previously. Laske is a variant of lask; the relevant verb sense is already at the lemma and doesn’t need to be repeated. (@Werdna Yrneh Yarg: please note.) — SGconlaw (talk) 17:18, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
