- The source, at the word league, only has: "*leugā- (?)". Spelled differently and with ?.

- It's very suspicious. John Koch should be well aware that Proto-Celtic had no diphthong /eu̯/ (whether spelled eu or ew is irrelevant), as the PIE diphthong /eu̯/ had become /ou̯/ in Proto-Celtic. So the word would have to be reconstructed as Proto-Celtic *lougā, except that would give neither the apparent Gaulish source of Latin leuga nor the attested Middle Breton words. I think the Breton words could come from a *legʷā, which could maybe have become Latin leuga by a kind of rounding metathesis, I suppose. Unfortunately,
