Sense #2 looks redundant to me. Perhaps sense #1 could be reworded to specify the pining is for a ‘person or thing’ to make it clearer but sense #2 should be removed. Overlordnat1 (talk) 18:14, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

I cited it as a separate sense. A merger of the senses may be possible, but the current pair of definitions seems adequate. This, that and the other (talk) 02:02, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
