Short for "good luck"[edit]
In the early 2000s I played some Internet games where the etiquette was to wish your opponent good luck before the game; they weren't all the same players or the same site (there was Yahoo! Games, Networdz — a Scrabble clone — with partners found via IRC, etc.). Most people just said "luck" instead of "good luck". Equinox ◑ 12:18, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
