@Soap isn't this entry more common in the form "men 🍺"? [1] Ioaxxere (talk) 15:17, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Possibly. I'm not sure it'd be easy to tell which is more common because of the way "endless scrolling" social media platforms only show a glimpse at a time. All we can say is that they're both common, possibly even rivaling women ☕, and I'm not making a lazy mistake like assuming all juxtapositions of men and are uses of men ☕. (Some people just like coffee, for example.) It may even be that men 🍺 even has some subtlety of meaning that distinguishes it from the coffee form, which would merit not just a separate entry but a usage note explaining the difference.
Why did I create it with this form? Well, I had this particular form in mind months ago ready to go, having seen it on social media. I didnt expect the women ☕ page to survive once I heard about Twitter being demoted on our new CFI policy, so I held off on creating this page until I realized that women ☕ was likely to pass its CFI vote.
This is a good place to add, perhaps, why I didnt add any of the citations from Twitter since I keep saying that there are so many of them. I hinted at it in my edit summary, but I've always worried about two things ..... first, that the people we're citing may not WANT to be showcased on Wiktionary, and might think that once their words are here, it's permanent and can't be deleted..... secondly, that providing links to citations might draw people into reading other things that we shouldn't be endorsing. Although I think the second one doesnt really apply so much in this case.... that's more about the so-called dogwhistles we've been tossing around lately.
Thanks,

Having done a twitter search for men 🍺, i believe you, but the signal to noise ratio is much, much lower due to the many juxtapositions in other contexts. As I said above .... some people just like coffee .... well, a LOT more people like beer, it seems. So i cant just point to a twitter search link and say "here's the cites you wanted!" I also think there is a subtle difference in meaning between the coffee and beer versions, so while i think both will pass CFI, I'll hold off on creating the beer version for now. I'm not sure if there are usage differences but it might be worth adding as a alternative form (or making this entry the alternative form) Ioaxxere (talk) 00:47, 3 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
