Can the author include a citation for the verb in the third bullet being analyzed as a lexical middle? The example in the third bullet is not a middle by any definition that I'm aware of. "Break" here is instantiating the causative/inchoative alternation. A reliable diagnostic for middles in English is that they entail habitual aspect, which the example in the third bullet doesn't have. So while "The window breaks easily" is a middle construction, "The window broke" isn't. Kdtbhl (talk) 19:02, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
