Minute does also mean a written summary of a meeting in English ?

Youssefsan

Yes. Now dealt with. Also a vb to write the summary. user:sjc

Thanks -- Youssefsan

This page has a pronunciation key above the noun heading, and parallel to it. Shouldn't there be a separate pronunciation key for the noun and for the adjective separately, under (ie, subordinate to) the noun and adjective headings? Hogghogg 15:26, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Okay, will do. Hogghogg 21:31, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

The pronunciation heading is subordinate to the etymology heading only. Having the pronunciations grouped together gives our readers a chance to see/hear all the pronunciations at once (as it is likely they will not notice that there are different pronunciation sections, if they were to be subordinate to the definition-level header.) --Connel MacKenzie 15:37, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Okay, as long as that's policy. Hogghogg 21:31, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Missing verb sense: to time in minutes?[edit]

Obsolete, and possibly a nonce usage:

  • 1835, Isaac Hurlstone, The Fatal Interview; Or, the Danger of Unbridled Passion, Etc (page 175)
    Mrs. Corder and three young ladies were seated; and Mr. Corder was before the fire, minuting some eggs boiling.

minute = a long time[edit]

I added a quote from the NetFlix series ‘Start Up’ where this is used by a character called ‘Ron’ but if anyone would like to see more examples just watch the series, where he says it throughout, or watch ‘Power’ on NetFlix where ‘Kanan’, played by 50 Cent, repeatedly says ‘minute’ with this meaning. It is also discussed in Green’s Dictionary of Slang[1] Overlordnat1 (talk) 11:14, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Also made it’s way into MLE - it appears 1 min into S1E1 of the new BBC series ‘Champion’. --Overlordnat1 (talk) 12:36, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
