Nausea and urge to vomit[edit]

Wiktionary:

  1. A feeling of physical unwellness, usually with the desire to vomit. (Boldface by me.)

Wikipedia:

  1. Nausea (Latin: Nausea, Greek: Ναυτεία, "sea-sickness") is the sensation of unease and discomfort in the stomach with an urge to vomit.

So while Wiktionary has the desire to vomit as an optional requirement, Wikipedia has it as a defining characteristic. Differences:

  • tendency to vomit: optional vs mandatory
  • "desire" vs "urge"

Wikipedia's definition seems more appropriate to me, but then, I am a non-native speaker, and a medical non-expert --Daniel Polansky 09:43, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
