[edit]

@Dan Polansky: Please see this edit summary. I don't think this word is colloquial. --Auvajs (talk) 10:10, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Auvajs: (I added "Colloquial" heading to the discussion.) To support removal, your diff makes a statement to the effect that the ČNK, Czech National Corpus, contains 520 occurrenes from all sorts of texts, which indicates the word is part of neutral register. I for one perceive the word as colloquial/informal, and google books:"očař" has mere 52 hits. Hausenblas 1974 says "ve slangu zdravotníků je ušař lékař nemocí ušních, očař lékař pro choroby oční, děckař je dětský lékař;". The kinds of works I find in google books:"očař" are not medical or similarly formal texts, whereas google books:"oční lékař" finds "Ošetřovatelství pro střední zdravotnické školy IV" on the first page of results. Let's take this: "Ostatně takhle uřvaná nemůžeš počítat, kolik nul za desetinnou čárkou dělá oxicyanát rtuťnatý, když očař napíše třicet gramů soluce 1:5000."; "uřvaná" is not neutral, and is consistent with the sentence being written at least in part in an informal register.
What I see in the results is not necessarily 100% conclusive and rock-solid, but it still suggests to me that the word is informal. Unfortunately, I am not skilled with working with ČNK, and I do not know how to place links to ČNK searches to wiki. ČNK seems to use some "modern" web technologies which seem to make it harder to have links to search results that survive a month. --Dan Polansky (talk) 10:36, 30 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
