This is another case in point why English language "common names" for all but the most well known trees in Africa (like baobab) should be treated with extreme caution. Either they incorporate references rooted in core-Anglophone rather than any African culture (like "apple ring acacia"), or they are generic assigned (coined?) names that may apply to any of two or several species, as in this case. Hence I added a generic definition. Should this term, "ordeal tree," be considered a neologism?
