Etymology[edit]

Interesting that this is calqued from Arabic, because it seems odd that a culture would label its own native dance as "oriental". I would have assumed it was a label applied by Westerns to the Middle East. But Wikipedia seems to back it up: Raqs sharqi. 70.172.194.25 18:30, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
