Wyang, might you (or anyone else) help with the etymology on this one? The second syllable seems to be from 機／机 (jī, “loom”), but as for the first, the OED indicates that it's běn in pīnyīn and means "own", which is entirely unhelpful to me. It could be from:

本機／本机  ―  běn jī  ―  own loom

or

本織／本织  ―  běn zhī  ―  home-woven
