Missing cycling verb?[edit]

According to Glossary of cycling, pump is a "colloquial verb meaning to give a second person a ride on a bicycle, also known as giving a hike. The passenger may balance on the handlebars or the seat, while the biker stands to pedal." A very cursory Google Books search found nothing. Equinox 19:31, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

greek[edit]

Any chance of a connection with Gk πομπός? Im guessing it's around 1% chance of being the actual etymology, but, since we seem to know nothing else, .... does anyone know if it's been proposed? Thanks, Soap 15:28, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
