Answer to Raif'har objections[edit]

Hello Raif'har, thank you for the interest you took in my french translations of "question the question". I answer here since I don't find the link to reach your discussion page.

If I may order your pleas against my translations :

1/ I see I misunderstood the meaning of the phrase "question the question", sorry. I took it for the preleminary answer of (for example) a teacher to a student's "question à tiroirs" ( "drawered question"). A question kind of :"Sir, couldn't it mean...., but of course if one takes in mind that...., wouldn't it rather be..., but actually does not it have the meaning of ..., etc...".

So I thank you for correcting my caption under the 1470 frescoe (wasn't it anyway quite appropriate with the spring 1st day?) - & for not suppressing bluntly my edits as I saw it done too often in WP:en...

2/As for the phrases "Quelle est exactement votre question ?" & "Précisez votre pensée s'il vous plait !" (which you translated rightly albeit you say you don't speak french...) they are perfectly correct french, & I heard them many times from a teacher's or senior's mouth, on the occasions exposed in 1/, during the several years I spent as a student; & I had myself to use them later a lot of times.

But since I understand they don't correspond with the true meaning of "question the question" , I'm afraid I'll have to blott them out ? .

While I'm holding the pen: I hope you understand I felt latin languages were so poorly stood for in Wiktionary, & that I modestly try to give back to french, spanish (& sometimes italian) some of their ancient splendor. As for my "Hello, in french" little miscellaneous rubriques, they try to give to people who are interested a glimpse of how middle-class, somewhat learned, french people (think &) speak nowadays.

BTW, I see you are conversant with a lot of languages : could you tell your colleagues that an equivalent in european alphabet of the words they enter would be much enjoyed.

Hoping you'll pardon my frequent typo. blunders, thank you & t.y. Arapaima 09:20, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
