My 1901 Chambers Twentieth Century Dictionary gives the form "rambustious", a slang word meaning boisterous. Does anyone have an etymology for "rambunctious" or "rambustious"? I would love to have a verb form of "rambunctious". For example, "The calves are ramb......ing around in the barnyard." "Rambunketing", maybe? Jane Elderfield

See robustious, rumbustious, as well as rambunctious#Etymology. Not so sure about verb though. DCDuring Holiday Greetings! 01:42, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
