1.  relating to an act of going or coming back to an earlier place or position
I hope the return flight isn't delayed.
2.  (Canada U.K. Australia New Zealand)  Same as round-trip

We enjoyed the resort so much that we decided to make a return visit the next year.

"Conjugation"

We're not seriously going to start doing this for all English verbs, are we? There's no reason at all to point people towards forms like "returnedst" (at least not in the modern English entries), just to gloss them and point them back here. At most, they belong as alt forms at the past tense entries. — LlywelynII 00:37, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Possible missing sense: "to revolve"?

Chambers 1908 gives one transitive sense of return as "to revolve". I can't work out what kind of revolution is meant here. Perhaps astronomy, e.g. a heavenly body returning every so often as it orbits? Equinox ◑ 20:42, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
