Preferred Plural[edit]

Does anyone have any information regarding the preferred plural of this word in general use? It would seem to me that "schemata" would probably be the more correct but I would imagine that "schemas" would gradually become the more common. Schemas is definitely standard in the "description of structured data" sense (applied to databases and XML files and such); see PostgreSQL documentation, W3C documentation, Oracle documentation, and so on. But I think schemata is probably preferable in the other senses. (Personally I actually prefer schemata in all senses, but that's just me.) —RuakhTALK 13:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
