I'm not sure. Compare shoutout, where you certainly can't put the plural -s in the middle. Same goes for e.g. lookouts. Equinox 22:22, 15 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Origin of noun usage[edit]

Can the origin of the noun usage be added to this entry? I don't think it dates back to earlier than about 1980. Apparently, the term, which may have earlier originated in urban African American vernacular, was first popularized by a New York DJ named Ralph McDaniels around 1982 or 1983. 173.88.246.138 04:56, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
