Chambers 1908 defines sis or sissy as "a girl, a sweetheart", deriving them from Cicely. Equinox ◑ 14:42, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Form of address[edit]
This is definitely used as a form of address, especially in AAVE. But perhaps "Clipping of sister." already covers that, since there's a similar definition at sister. 70.172.194.25 06:18, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
