Which sense is this? Missing?[edit]

In Kipling's Captains Courageous [1] "How many skates you reckon we'll need?" Something to do with fishing, or preparing fishing bait. Not ice skates, I think, nor the type of fish called skate. Equinox 22:17, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
