I think we should forget the "commonly" part and just merge into one sense. Some snack foods are commonly eaten; others are eaten only by a few rare people; but the point is that they are eaten between meals. Equinox 00:07, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I tend to disagree. There are some foods where the food itself is considered a snack food, like potato chips or cookies, where if you served a portion of these sufficient to make a regular meal at a regular meal time, people might ask, 'why are you having snack foods for dinner'. On the other hand, if you have a slice of filet mignon or chicken cordon bleu as a mid-afternoon filler between regular meals, you might still call it 'snack food' based on the act of eating it as a snack. bd2412 T 01:04, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, you could ask "why are you having breakfast for dinner?" (I am eating cereal at 6 p.m.) but do we want that split at breakfast? (Observation: we have three senses at fast food.) UPDATE: ahaha we already do split breakfast that way. Oh my. Equinox 01:07, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
