Not bustling![edit]

Surprised not to find some discussion contribution(s) by wiki users on this word... ahh well! There is, usually, always tomorrow. Brianbuckfredell (talk) 18:39, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why didn't you start the discussion yourself? Koro Neil (talk) 03:45, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pejorative use?[edit]

I often find spawn(ed) in Wikipedia articles in the metaphorical sense, referring to the success of something resulting in sequels, or in the proliferation of similar productions and imitations. Certainly this sense has been round longer than the internet, but in my experience it always used to be used pejoratively, expressing the speaker or writer's contempt for the things spawned, and very often the original as well. Does the word no longer have this pejorative sense? Koro Neil (talk) 03:54, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Positive uses can easily be found, e.g. "Rags To Riches: How Corporate Culture Spawned A Great Company"; "Lil Uzi Vert's ballsy stage diving has spawned the best meme". Equinox 09:30, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
