straight supremacy

Sense 2: not the ideology (sense 1), but: "a situation in which straight people are privileged over other people in society". Equinox ◑ 20:38, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

I see we have similar "A situation..." defs at "white supremacy", "black supremacy". I think I see what it's trying to cover, in that X supremacy can be a system that exists/operates in the world, not just an ideology per se, but I don't think "situation" is a clear way of wording it. (Compare how e.g. communism expresses the difference between "ideology" and "system".) I can find citations where it's more of a system (if we change "situation" to "system"), and other cites where it's more of a doctrine, but I'd be tempted to just fold the two definitions together along the lines of "An ideology or system that holds that straightness is superior and privileges straight people over others". - -sche (discuss) 02:22, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

I have boldly gone ahead and folded the senses together, changing the awkward "situation" to "system". This merger could be undone and the second sense merely tweaked — as stated, it does match similar sets of senses at white supremacy, black supremacy, etc — if anyone thinks it'd be preferable to dig up more and clearer citations and go that route... - -sche (discuss) 22:05, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

It looks resolved now. A similar merger of definitions should probably also be done for white supremacy and black supremacy and for consistency Jewish supremacy should be recreated with a similar definition (or they should all be deleted as SOP). Overlordnat1 (talk) 22:41, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
