Talk:tablă

Tablă cannot be inherited from Latin. Intervowel "l" turns into "r", so it would end up as "tabură".

Additionally, the Vulgar Latin version from which we would have inherited it would have been the one from which Italian is derived, so it would be *tavula (from which there is Italian tavola). However, in Romanian the intervowel "v" would be elided. (compare Venetian toła, Friulian taule).

This means that the most likely form would be "taură", definitely nowhere near "tablă". Bogdan (talk) 19:56, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
