Maybe the origin is as plain as direct symbolic resemblance to penis. Thus "tally" is long and stiff place on which to keep score (in this case sexual conquests) -- and "whacker" maybe refers to how that "tally" is actually used as in thrusting or "whack off" (a description for masturbation which is still in use). 24.162.54.29 05:47, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
