I've never heard of it, and I live in Michigan. But, with 11,400 hits on google, it must mean I should get out more. --Stranger 02:32, 3 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I hadn’t either, and I’m from Michigan.
My idiolect didn’t include a term for this (admittedly, my parents were immigrants), and it exhibits strong dialectical differences – thanks for your input!

I grew up in Virginia and called it a tree lawn; I think the term is actually mid-Atlantic or Southern. In the part of the midwest I currently live in, people call it the "parking" (not "parking strip").Thebaid (talk) 11:11, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
