Special rules around weekends

Is Friday night a weeknight — since we don't have to get up early for work the next day? Well, I checked the OED, and it says: "A weekday night; spec. (in early use) a night of the week other than Sunday night; (now usually) a night of the week other than Saturday or Sunday night (sometimes also excluding Friday night)."
