Usage[edit]
This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from folios of Ben Jonson's works, entitled The Works of Benjamin Jonson (1st folio, 1616; 2nd folio, 1640–1641; 3rd folio, 1692). It can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books:
- 1st folio (1616; contents; archived at the Internet Archive).
- 2nd folio (1640–1641; archived at the Internet Archive).
- 3rd folio (1692; archived at the Internet Archive).
Where a specific quotation template relating to a work exists (for example, {{RQ:Jonson Poetaster}}), use that template instead.
Parameters[edit]
The template takes the following parameters:
|folio=– mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the 2nd folio (1640–1641) or the 3rd folio (1692), specify|folio=2or|folio=3. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to the 1st folio (1616).|1=,|chapter=, or|title=– the title, "chapter", or part of the work quoted from, such as the title of a play or a masque. At the moment, specifying what is indicated in the first column of the following table will cause the template to display the text in the second column:

|act=and|scene=– if quoting a play, use these parameters to specify the act and scene numbers in uppercase and lowercase Roman numerals respectively, like this:|act=I,|scene=i.|part=– use this parameter to indicate a part of a work quoted from other than the main body of a play. For specific works indicated in the first column of the following table, give the parameter the value indicated in the second column:

|2=or|page=, or|pages=– mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:- Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this:

|pageref=to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

|column=or|columns=– the text in the 2nd and 3rd folios is divided into two columns. Use this parameter to specify if column 1 or 2 is quoted from. When quoting from both columns, either omit the parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this:|columns=1–2.|3=,|text=, or|passage=– the passage to be quoted.|footer=– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=– use|brackets=onto surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.

The parameters |act= and |scene= are not mandatory as not all the works require them. However, in other quotation templates that call this template (such as {{RQ:Jonson Epicoene}}), |act= and |scene= can be made mandatory by specifying |mandatory=1 or |mandatory=yes.
