Template[edit]

@Thadh, do you know what I've done wrong? I've the changed front=1 to front=0 for ahas, but the template still renders a front vowel ä? Also I wonder if {{izh-decl-S/patsas|ahas|ahtah|a|front=0}} could be less error-prone than {{izh-decl-S/patsas|a|h|ht|a|front=0}}, as both word stems are immediately visible from the code? --KirillW (talk) 16:12, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've edited the template to add an option without h for NOM:PL and it has broken down :( There's obviously something I don't understand on how templates work --KirillW (talk) 16:28, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@KirillW: If the parameter |front= is given any value at all, the template renders it as defined (and as such checked). Sorry for the mistake, I've copied the whole description from {{izh-decl/patsas}}, but forgot to fix this parameter.
I think giving full roots is not a good strategy: first of all, they are longer (and thus invite more typos, read: ahas/ahrah etc.), but more importantly, the header won't show the gradation (it's now defined as {{#ifeq:{{{2}}}|{{{3}}}|no gradation|{{{3}}}-{{{2}}} gradation}}, so basically: If |2= isn't equal to |3=, a 3-2 gradation, otherwise no gradation. Also, on the plural: I can't seem to understand whether the plural in {{izh-decl-S/kalakas}} should get a second plural as well? It would be logical, but Junus doesn't give this form as explicitly as with patsas. Thadh (talk) 16:40, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
I will come back later on this — don't have enough data now. --KirillW (talk) 20:05, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Thadh, this question is well discussed in Kuznetsova's thesis, section 2.12. If we accept a NOM.PL and GEN.SG without an "h" as a variant of norm, then it applies to all words of this type. --KirillW (talk) 08:42, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@KirillW: I've added the NOM.PL form to kalakas. I think that other forms (GEN.SG, ILL.SG etc.) are again too idiolectic to note, they aren't even given by Junus, so we can't be sure anyone would even write these as having no -h-. Thadh (talk) 11:14, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
