@Fish bowl: To make it work one can make t:lang the outer layer: {{lang|ja|{{ruby|[巡](じゅん)[礼](れい)[者](しゃ)の[守](しゅ)[護](ご)[霊](れい)}}}}. There is a shortcut for this {{ruby/ja|[巡](じゅん)[礼](れい)[者](しゃ)の[守](しゅ)[護](ご)[霊](れい)}}.

The reason is that mod:languages now has many additional text-processing codes that may break the []() markup so it is better to feed this markup directly to t:ruby, rather than after going through t:lang. -- Huhu9001 (talk) 10:01, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
