As the name of the template may suggest, this is for inflection lines for Yiddish nouns. It uses 4 named parameters, two of which call attention categories if left unspecified. These are

  • g= (for gender, accepted answers are m, f and n)
  • tr= (for the Roman-alphabet transliteration of the word)

The final parameters are extra, to show the plural and diminutive forms of the given word and their transliterations. These are:

  • pl= (for the plural)
  • pltr= (transliteration of plural)
    • pl2= (for second plural where it exists)
    • pl2tr= (transliteration of second plural)
  • dim= (for the diminutive)
  • dimtr= (transliteration of diminutive)
    • dim2= (for second diminutive where it exists)
    • dim2tr= (transliteration of second diminutive)

how about[edit]

pl=es, pl=en, dim=l? We've got pl=n and pl=s, and these guys are all extremely common also. — [Ric Laurent]10:15, 31 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

un un un pl=ekh, and maybe dim=ele — [Ric Laurent]10:17, 31 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Benwing2, thank you for fixing the issue below! These old suggestions from Ric also never got implemented, but they would all be helpful. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 04:27, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
We've also got pl=er. Shad Veyosiv (talk) 15:04, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I just added pl=er and it seems to work fine, I'll try to add the rest now. --Shad Veyosiv (talk) 16:01, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge, I've added pl=es, pl=en, pl=er, dim=l and dim=kl. --Shad Veyosiv (talk) 16:21, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

End-letters[edit]

This template has a very big flaw, when adding a suffix to a word that ends with the מנצפ"ך letters, it keeps the "end" form for the letter, instead of changing to the "middle" form.

Thus, plural of שליאַך will become שליאַךן instead of שליאַכן.--Shad Veyosiv (talk) 06:47, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

It's a known problem. The person who had long ago promised to deal with it is now mostly inactive. I suppose I ought to find someone else willing to help. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 17:19, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Shad Veyosiv I have tried to fix it, please let me know if it works. Benwing2 (talk) 19:35, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2 thanks, almost. It fixed the problem but added a 1 before the ן (i.e. "שליאַכ1ן"). --Shad Veyosiv (talk) 19:42, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Shad Veyosiv OK, should work now. Benwing2 (talk) 19:57, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, thanks! --Shad Veyosiv (talk) 20:03, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
