Etymology[edit]

First attested as rosit and rosyt in 1312-1350. Derived from Proto-Germanic *rausa (reed) suffixed with Gallo-Roman Latin -etum. The first element was gradually reinterpreted as te (at). Compare Holset and Terblijt.
