First attested as uchtelerberg in 1243. Etymology unknown. Perhaps related to Old Swedish ûchta (“morning, dawn”), Middle Low German uchte (“morning, dawn”), or German Low German uchte (“pasture used by cattle in the morning”). Compare Ochten.
