nonintercourse[edit]

lol wow, that's not about sexual intercourse, but about the old-fashioned sense of "intercourse", meaning communication, or interaction. Be careful with your "OED"! Equinox 04:01, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Equinox!
I've attached some pictures of the page from the OED where I got this usage. I think this is an interesting usage of the word that's worth including in the dictionary, and I tried to include it in as appropriate a way as I could. I'm new to editing wikis, and the policies for inclusion are pretty labyrinthine. I apologize if I offended you or broke Wiktionary policy in any way. I plan to reinsert my definition later tonight, but if you know of some policy indicating that I shouldn't, please reach out! My intent is only to contribute constructively.
Thanks for reading! :)

Wow! Thanks for the good (paper) citations. I suppose it would be churlish to say that all of them have a hyphen, so they technically only evidence non-intercourse and nonintercourse. I don't care. I'm happy to say there is actual usage here and I was wrong. What I would say is that the definition/sense line needs to define the actual word, so "allusion to intercourse" isn't right (because that's not what the word means, and you couldn't replace it that way in the sentence); I just changed it to "lack of...". Anyway, thanks for your good contribution. What's a hyphen between friends? Certainly not a priority on a free project at the moment. best wishes, Equinox 12:38, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also just looked at your user page and thought "yes you probably aren't going to find a pronoun box for x86 asm." Inexplicably I couldn't find one for Zilog Z80 either. OK I'm done. Equinox 12:45, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
