I can't see the underlying Lua code that is called by "#invoke:User:Equinox/LuaTest|grabEntry". But looking at the entry for hagberry, the offending categorisation (now to Category:en:Prunus genus plants) is a line of code on that entry, not one generated by templates. The templates are clever enough to stop categories appearing on anything not in the Main namespace, but the entry you've grabbed includes a non-template category. So to fix this, the onus lies on your Lua code to strip out any "[[Category:...]]" content. Or grab a page that doesn't include non-template categorisation.
