• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.

• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.

The language code for Rungus is "drg". Here's an explanation of how to add an entry for Rungus, so you can get started before you read all of the information linked to above:

First search for the spelling in the search box.

If there's already an entry, you'll need to add a section for Rungus. It will go after the English section, if there is one, and before or after other languages according to the alphabetical order of the language names (after Indonesian and before Tagalog, for instance). Separate your section from the other languages by putting "----" on a line by itself between your section and any other section.

If there isn't an entry with that spelling, it will be shown in the search results in red. If you click on that, it will open edit mode for the new entry.

The first line of the language section is always the name of the language: "==Rungus==".

If you're not including sections for Etymology or Pronunciation, the next line (not counting empty lines) should be the part of speech, such as Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb, Particle, etc. Deciding which part of speech a term belongs to can be tricky in languages that are different from English, but nouns are usually the same in any language, so we'll start with those:

Start the noun section with "===Noun===" on a line of its own. The next line (without any empty lines between) should be the headword line: "{{head|drg|noun}}" After an empty line, the next line is the definition line. This always starts with "#". After that you can add templates such as {{context}} or {{sense}}, but you don't need to know about those to start with. Next is the definition in English. If there's more than one meaning for the word, you can have more definition lines, but don't put empty lines in between.

A verb section would start with "===Verb===" and have "{{head|drg|verb}}" instead of "{{head|drg|noun}}", and so on for any other part of speech.

That's all you need for a basic entry. Before you save it, it's always a good idea to click "show preview" to check it for errors. I often preview and correct several times before I click "save page".
