Inherited from Proto-Slavic *uvęžetъ, third-person singular present of Proto-Slavic *uvęzati, from *vęzati. Compare Polish uwiązać, Lower Sorbian huwězaś, Upper Sorbian wuwjazać, Czech uvázat.
