English[edit]

Noun[edit]

angel shot (countable and uncountable, plural angel shots)

  1. (military) Synonym of chain shot
  2. A fictional drink that a person can order to secretly indicate to bar staff that they need help.
    • 2020, Stephen B. King, Glimpse, The Angel Shot:
If you would like us to rescue you from him: Ask any of the bar staff or security for: “An Angel Shot.”
    • 2023, Rylie Dark, Where You Go:
"I need to know if any of them took a specific drink order recently. An angel shot."
The manager raised an eyebrow. "Angel shot? Isn't that--"
Kelly nodded. In the bartending business, it was well known that an "angel shot" wasn't a real drink, but was instead a code word that women could use to signal that they were in trouble.
