Borrowed from Latin archetypum, from Ancient Greek ἀρχέτυπον (arkhétupon, pattern, model) neuter of ἀρχέτυπος (arkhétupos, first-moulded), from ἀρχή (arkhḗ, first, origin) + τύπος (túpos, sort, type, press).
