Etymology[edit]

From translingual Aubrieta, the name of the taxonomic genus, which was itself named in honor of Claude Aubriet.

Noun[edit]

aubrietia (plural aubrietias)

  1. A creeping perennial plant native to southeastern Europe, Aubrieta deltoidea, grown as a groundcover and in rock gardens for its dense foliage and purple, pink or white flowers.

Usage notes[edit]

  • The spelling aubrieta, while closer to the original spelling and the taxonomic name, is much less common in actual usage.
