English[edit]

Adjective[edit]

baaad

  1. Elongated form of bad.
    • 1996, John Tierney, “Recycling is Garbage”, in New York Times[1]:
"How does all this make you feel?"
      "Baaaad", the students moaned.
    • 2012, K. Bennett, The Year of Eating Dangerously[2] (urban fantasy), page 10:
The last living biker came at me with a knife, a big honking knife, the kind that makes an outlaw feel really baaaad. I hate getting cut. That leaves a definite scar on my not so resilient skin.

Usage notes[edit]

  • As with other elongated forms, the number of repetitions of the vowel is arbitrary; a longer spelling indicates a longer pronunciation by the speaker, but not necessarily a greater intensity of meaning.
