Particularly: “Is this confirmed or just based on similarity? I find it doubtful. 1.) MHG b- rarely ever becomes Cimbrian b-. Admittedly there are some exceptions but mostly learned words like "baabost, bissof". 2.) The unvoiced geminate becoming a voiced single is even more surprising. Perhaps instead comparable to MHG "wigelen", German "wiegeln" (to rock, waver, move back and forth)? Not a perfect semantic match, but could refer to the irregular movement of marbles.”

From Middle High German bickel, from Old High German *bickil, from Proto-West Germanic *bikkil, from Proto-Germanic *bikkilaz (“stonemason; piece of chipped stone or bone; die”). Cognate with obsolete German Bickel (modern Pickel).
