Etymology[edit]

From Arabic اِبْن آدَم (ibn ʔādam, man, human, literally son of Adam). By surface analysis, iben +‎ Adam. The Maltese inflections by analogy with an active participle such as riekeb, riekba, rekbin (riding, astride).
