Azerbaijani[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Common Turkic *bokak, a derivation of Common Turkic *bok/*buk/*būk (“swelling in the mouth”); alternatively, a derivation from Proto-Turkic *bog- (“to strangle”), whence also Azerbaijani boğmaq and Azerbaijani boğaz.[1] Cognate with Turkish boğak (“tonsillitis, angina”), and dialectal buḫağ (“double chin”).
