Etymology[edit]

From Middle Irish cliste (ready, quick), from Proto-Celtic *kel-, of uncertain origin, perhaps Proto-Indo-European *kel- (to drive) similar to Latin celer (swift, quick). However, compare cleas (trick, feat).[1]
