Borrowed from Dutch klapmuts (three-piece cap or bonnet, hat with ear-flaps, hooded seal).

clockmutch (plural clockmutches)

  1. (New York, obsolete) A three-piece cap or bonnet worn by women, with a straight central piece reaching from the neck to the forehead and two side pieces reaching as far down as the chin.
