  1. A curve running in the opposite direction to another curve.

      It is curious that, in spite of the explanation of the counter curve which was given twenty years ago, in explaining the manner in which Cupid's bow was possible, it is only in quite recent times that skaters have recognised that the small counter curve which follows the rocker and precedes the counter does not indicate an actual change of edge, but is in fact only the necessary result while preserving the line of progression of reversing the direction of the skate.
