Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دینی (dīnī /dīnī/), from Classical Persian دینی (dīnī /dīnī/), from Arabic دِينِيٌّ m (dīniyyun). By surface analysis, din (“religion”) + -i (nisba suffix).
Compare also Azerbaijani dini, Kazakh діни (dıni), etc.
